If there’s one thing I absolutely adore about living in this vibrant city, it’s a never-ending list of fun outdoor activities! Cycling just so happens to be one of my favorite ways to add movement to my day. That being said, I’ve pedaled through these bike trails in Tampa in all seasons, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the breeze year-round.
So for this post I’m going to take you through the best bike trails Tampa has to offer, from scenic waterfront routes to lush green pathways. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just looking for a fun outdoor activity, I’m sure at least one of these Tampa bike trails will catch your eye!
Bike trails in Tampa
1. Bayshore Boulevard
Bayshore Boulevard is one of the most stunning bike trails in Tampa! The 10-foot wide sidewalk provides plenty of space for you to ride comfortably, with the added convenience of a dedicated bike lane on the road you can utilize during busy periods if you prefer.
Stretching an impressive 4.5 miles, Bayshore Boulevard just so happens to be the longest continuous sidewalk in the world! How cool is that?

I personally really love biking this trail around sunset. While I haven’t spotted any marine life during my recent rides due to low tide, it’s not uncommon to catch glimpses of dolphins, manatees, and other fish frolicking in the bay!
If you don’t want your biking adventure to end, this trail seamlessly links up with the Tampa Riverwalk (our next Tampa bike trail) via the Platt Street Bridge.
2. Tampa Riverwalk
The iconic Tampa Riverwalk is a bustling, vibrant path that stretches 2.6 miles along the Hillsborough River. It takes you by parks, museums, and restaurants. It’s a great Tampa bike trail if you’re social. There are plenty of opportunities to people-watch, and even catch an outdoor concert.
Not only is this great for biking, but I have enjoyed strolling and even rollerblading the Tampa Riverwalk! If you have a bike basket, bring some lunch and enjoy a picnic at one of the amazing picnic spots along the Riverwalk (one of my favorite free things to do in Tampa!).
3. Courtney Campbell Causeway Trail
This trail stretches an impressive 10.5 miles from Tampa to Clearwater, providing uninterrupted views of the bay. The Courtney Campbell Causeway Trail is your go-to for a breezy, scenic ride with plenty of rest stops to enjoy the views. This bike trail in Tampa is another amazing opportunity to spot some adorable marine life!
There are plenty of areas to park at various points of the trail. We usually enter and park around Ben T. Davis Beach. This trail is an absolute treasure at sunrise or sunset! After you’re done riding, stop at one of the best waterfront restaurants in Tampa (Whiskey Joe’s) and treat yourself.
4. Upper Tampa Bay Trail
The Upper Tampa Bay Trail stands out as one of Tampa’s premier trails, offering a scenic 7.25-mile route that’s equally amazing for hikers. As you venture this trail, you’ll be surrounded by lush greenery, with towering trees creating a picturesque canopy overhead.
At some parts, the path travels alongside peaceful waterways, and you’ll have the opportunity to ride over charming bridges, adding a touch of adventure to your ride. This trail’s diverse landscapes provide a refreshing variety, making it a must-visit bike trail in Tampa!
5. Al Lopez Park Trail
Discover the Al Lopez Park Trail, a hidden gem nestled in a lush oasis of greenery, offering around 1.3 miles of smooth trail for leisure riders and families. For this trail, you’ll be surrounded by picturesque ponds, towering trees, and possibly even catch glimpses of local wildlife adding to the tranquil atmosphere.
When we went, the trail had such a wholesome vibe, with families enjoying the park’s amenities like the playground, dog park, bike trail, and soccer fields on a lazy Sunday evening. Don’t forget to bring along some bug spray to ward off any unwelcome guests, and since it’s a shorter trail, consider biking around it a couple of times to soak in the peaceful ambiance to the fullest!
There is plenty of parking in this park.
6. Davis Island Trail
Explore the Davis Island Trail, a 2.6-mile out-and-back trail that promises an enjoyable ride amid scenic views. While the trail isn’t heavily shaded, so don’t forget your sunscreen and bug spray, it offers ample parking and easy access.
Be prepared for a potentially busy trail, especially during peak times, but don’t let that deter you from experiencing its charms. After your ride, make sure to explore some of the fantastic restaurants in Davis Island for a well-deserved post-ride treat!
