Best Restaurants in Midtown Tampa
Sunda New Asian
Sunda New Asian seamlessly weaves together the best of traditional and contemporary Asian cuisine, offering a unique and fun dining experience.
From tempting sushi rolls to flavorful noodle dishes and innovative fusion creations, Sunda has something for every palate. From the moment we took our first bite at Sunda New Asian’s Chicago location, it captured our hearts, so we were thrilled to get a location much closer to home.
Every dish we tried at Sunda was outstanding, but if we had to pick our top favorites, they would be:
- The Crispy Rice: It was pure perfection, with a delightful crunch and satisfying flavors.
- Miso Bronzed Black Cod: This dish reminded us of Roy’s butterfish, and it definitely did not disappoint. The miso glaze added a unique and delicious touch.
- The Escolar “Great White”: Initially, we hadn’t ordered this dish, but our server insisted we try it. We’re so glad we did because it turned out to be an absolute delight!
To complement our meal, we tried their Grass Tiger cocktail. It was made with jalapeño infused Japanese “roku” gin, lemongrass, lime, orange, ginger beer, and fresh mint. It’s truly something special.
And of course, dessert. The Coconut Cheesecake is the perfect finishing touch to an unforgettable meal. Its creamy texture and tropical flavors will transport you to paradise!

They offer juicy burgers, finger-licking wings, loaded nachos, and a range of refreshing drinks on their menu. And it’s not just about the classics—there’s something for every craving, including several salad options if you’re looking for something lighter.
Sal Y Mar
Sal Y Mar Rooftop in Midtown Tampa is your ticket to Tulum vibes without leaving the city! With a rooftop setting that captures the essence of coastal bliss, it’s the perfect escape. It’s one of the best rooftop bars in Tampa!
While they’ve switched up their menu a bit since my last dinner visit, my recent brunch experience was a delightful. The Rumchata French Toast stole the show, bringing a delightful twist to brunch classics.
It’s the kind of place where every visit feels like a mini-vacation, and with the evolving menu, there’s always something new to discover! Check out their current offerings and get ready to be transported to a Tulum-inspired haven right in the heart of Midtown.

It’s definitely one of the best restaurants in Midtown Tampa if you’re looking for something fresh and flavorful.
Ponte
Ponte isn’t just a restaurant – it’s your ticket to a Parisian-flair-meets-American-root culinary adventure right in Midtown Tampa. James Beard-nominated Chef Chris Ponte is the maestro in the kitchen, weaving locally sourced wonders into upscale, one-of-a-kind fare.
Think premium steaks, mouthwatering seafood, and a vibe that screams “let’s make this dinner unforgettable!” The split-bone ribeye is one of the best steaks I’ve had in Tampa Bay, every bite was heaven! The sleek bar and lounge add a touch of chic, creating an upscale atmosphere that’s as cozy as it is classy.
The mushroom soup and escargot are not just starters; they’re flavor explosions that set the stage for an evening of pure indulgence. Ponte should be at the top of any foodies must-visit list!
Oronzo
Oronzo is a flavor-packed adventure crafted by culinary innovators who know a thing or two about turning family recipes into culinary masterpieces. Launched in the spring of 2020, Oronzo is the brainchild of creators who, fueled by an unyielding passion for fresh family flavors and Bavaro’s flair, set out to redefine the fast-casual dining scene.
At Oronzo, the culinary adventure goes beyond the expected. This isn’t just a place for pizza; it’s a haven where pasta, pizza, bowls, and even Italian burritos(!) share the spotlight. This Midtown Tampa restaurant isn’t bound by culinary norms; it’s a playground where traditional meets inventive, and every dish is an invitation to savor the unexpected.
Kale Me Crazy
Kale Me Krazy stands out as the go-to destination for those craving fresh, nutritious, and downright delicious options. The menu is a vibrant tapestry, featuring everything from nutrient-packed bowls and wraps to energizing smoothies that redefine the concept of a power-packed meal.
But here’s the twist – Kale Me Krazy isn’t your average health spot; it’s a place where innovation meets nourishment. This Midtown Tampa restaurant is a haven for those who want to eat well without sacrificing flavor!
I had the quinoa bowl and it was truly delcious.
Colony Grill (Pizza)
In the heart of Midtown Tampa, Colony Grill brings a taste of history and a unique pizza experience that’s a cut above the rest. Originating in 1935 in an Irish immigrant neighborhood in Stamford, Connecticut, Colony Grill has evolved into a pizza haven with a singular focus— their legendary thin-crust pizza.
What started as a humble post-Prohibition tavern has transformed into a pizza institution, with the star of the show being the “bar pie.” Crafted with an extremely thin crust, just the right amount of cheese and sauce, and adorned with the iconic “hot oil” topping, it’s a pizza experience that’s as innovative as it is delicious.
The story of Colony Grill is a journey through time, from fitting pizza trays on narrow bar tops to becoming a multi-location sensation spanning across Connecticut, New York, Virginia, and now, Florida. So, when you’re in the mood for a pizza experience that marries tradition with innovation, Colony Grill in Midtown Tampa is your go-to spot.
