First on our starlit tour is the Silver Moon Drive-In Theater, located in Lakeland—just a hop, skip, and a jump from Tampa. This vintage treasure has been lighting up its screens since 1948, offering double features every night and a swap shop by day.
Grab your friends, pack some snacks, and catch two movies for the price of one (just $8!), all under the enchanting Florida sky. With state-of-the-art digital projection and a classic snack bar loaded with treats, Silver Moon provides a retro experience with contemporary flair.
If you’re up for the drive from Tampa, turning it into a day trip is the way to go! There are a ton of exciting activities in Lakeland waiting to be explored, making it the perfect destination for a day full of fun and adventure!
Joy-Lan Drive-In Movie Theater
The Joy-Lan Drive-In Movie Theater, nestled in Dade City, is about 45 minutes outside of Tampa. It has been keeping the old-school movie magic alive since 1950!
Joy-Lan not only offers an excellent cinematic repertoire ranging from the latest hits to good ol’ throwbacks but also hosts a Sunday flea market, making it a popular weekend destination.
This drive-in is also pet friendly, so you can bring your furry friends! It’s the same owners as the Silver Moon Drive-In, and ticket prices are the same ($8 for ages ten and up). Joy-Lan is closed on Mondays and Tuedays.
Ocala Drive-In Theater
With its commitment to keeping the classic drive-in experience vibrant, Ocala continues to deliver top-notch movie screenings with crystal-clear digital projection. They’ve got a fantastic concession menu as well, complete with all your favorite movie snacks and some you didn’t even know you needed!
This is the cheapest of the drive-in movie theatres at just $6 per adult, and $3 for children 6-12.
Ruskin Family Drive-In Movie Theater
Next up, venture down to the Ruskin Family Drive-In Movie Theater, where family-friendly films and a cozy atmosphere are waiting. Known for its great prices and strict “family values” policy, this spot is ideal for everyone looking to enjoy a movie under the stars.
You can visit their concession stand, where homemade pizza and the famous Ruskin chili dog take the movie snack game to a whole new level! Or, you can pay a $5 food permit fee and bring your own snacks.
Prices are just $7 for visitors 9 and up. Ruskin Family Drive-In is cash only, so come prepared. They screen a blend of classic and new movies, with their lineup changing every week. Don’t forget to stay updated on what’s showing! You can see movies here from Wednesday through Sunday.
