In the age of digital readers and online mega-retailers, the allure of exploring the nooks and crannies of quaint bookshops may seem like a fading memory. However, there are still a handful of new and used bookstores in Tampa!
Book lovers can still revel in the magic of perusing dusty shelves and uncovering hidden gems. Whether you’re a fan of brand-new releases or find solace in the pages of well-loved classics, this vibrant city has something for every bookworm.
Used Bookstores in Tampa
1. The Far Forest
Nestled in Seminole Heights, The Far Forest is a haven for bookworms seeking solace and rare finds. The store’s cozy ambiance, wooden shelves, and vintage decor evoke nostalgia. They specialize in antique and collectible books, making it a paradise for collectors.
You’ll find an impressive selection of first editions, beautifully illustrated classics, and books on various subjects, including history, art, and literature. The knowledgeable and friendly staff are always ready to help you find that elusive title you’ve been searching for.
2. Mojo Books and Records
Mojo Books and Records is more than just a bookstore; it’s a cultural hub where literature and music collide. The store’s funky atmosphere, vinyl records lining the walls, and shelves brimming with used books make it one of the more unique bookstores in Tampa!
They have an extensive collection of used books across various genres, from science fiction to self-help. If you’re a music enthusiast, you’ll be delighted by their vinyl records and CD collection (it’s one of the best record stores in Tampa). Mojo Books and Records also hosts events and live music, creating a vibrant and community-oriented space.
3. Tampa Antiques and Books
Tampa Antiques and Books is a hidden gem that combines the allure of antiques and the joy of reading. As you step into this treasure trove, you’ll be surrounded by antique furniture, vintage collectibles, and, of course, an impressive array of used books.
The store’s eclectic collection spans classic novels, art books, and historical tomes. Whether you’re hunting for a unique gift or simply browsing for your next read, this store’s charm and variety is sure to captivate you!
New Bookstores in Tampa
4. Oxford Exchange
Oxford Exchange is not only one of the best bookstores in Tampa, it’s also a stunning place to get lunch and grab some of the best coffee in Tampa.
This exquisite establishment, located in a historic building, offers a delightful mix of a restaurant, champagne bar, coffee shop, and an upscale bookstore with new books. The curated selection of new titles ensures that you can find the latest bestsellers and literary gems while enjoying a scrumptious meal!
5. Bookends: Literature & Libations
Bookends: Literature & Libations is a bookish oasis that seamlessly blends the love for literature with the enjoyment of libations. Although they are yet to have a physical shop in Tampa (coming 2024), book lovers can still indulge in their passion by ordering books online or visiting their bookmobile, which can be found at the Ybor City Saturday Market.
6. Bookstore Recommendations Beyond Tampa
If you’re willing to venture just a bit outside Tampa, you’ll discover some more quirky and delightful bookstores. In St. Pete, you can explore Book + Bottle, a charming spot that combines new books and a selection of wine and craft beer. Another one of my faves is Tombolo, which offers a carefully curated collection of books and beautifully designed book-related merchandise.
Each of these new and used bookstores in Tampa offers its own unique charm. Whether new or used, the joy of discovering a great book remains timeless!
