Looking for the best pizza in Tampa? Well, you’re in luck because this is my kind of research! As a self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of diving into the pizza scene in Tampa to find the best spots, and there are some serious gems out there.
When it comes to pizza, I’m all about that perfect balance between cheese and sauce—too much of either, and the whole thing’s thrown off. And, of course, that crispy crust that adds that extra satisfaction with every bite is an absolute must.
With those priorities in mind, I’ve set out to find the best pizza places in Tampa that check all the boxes.
Best Pizza in Tampa
1. Santoro’s Pizza
If you haven’t been to Santoro’s Pizza, drop everything and go. It’s an absolute must-visit when you’re searching for the best pizza in Tampa. I mean, it’d be shocking if any list of top pizza spots in Tampa didn’t include this beloved staple.
Their philosophy? A good pizzeria is defined by its plain slice, and Santoro’s totally nails it with their authentic “Jersey slice” right here in Tampa Bay.
And I cannot stress this enough: do not sleep on their garlic knots. They’re next-level with a mouthwatering garlic butter coating that will have you craving them for days. While I usually keep it simple with a plain slice, their specialty pies are equally tempting—Philly cheesesteak, buffalo chicken, meatball marinara, and more.
Bonus: Their daily lunch special (11 AM to 4 PM) is a steal—$7 for a plain slice, a specialty slice, and a fountain drink!
2. Westshore Pizza
Next on my list is Westshore Pizza. They’ve got locations all over the area—Tampa, Clearwater, Palm Harbor, and Largo—so you’re never too far from a delicious slice. As Tampa’s original pizza chain, they know exactly what they’re doing when it comes to pizza.
While the pizza is the real star, Westshore Pizza also offers a ton of other tasty options like wings, burgers, and calzones. This makes it my go-to place when I’m hosting events—I know everyone will find something they love.
If you’re feeding a crowd, they’ll even cut your pizza into squares, which makes it perfect for sharing and gives that classic pizzeria feel. And yes, their garlic knots? Just as delicious as their pizza.
3. Sliceadelic
If you’re into pizza and craft beer, you’ve got to check out Sliceadelic at Magnanimous Brewing—one of the best breweries in Seminole Heights! They’re serving up award-winning pies Monday through Friday from 5–9 PM, and trust me, it’s totally worth it.
My go-to? The Honey Cup pizza with San Marzano sauce, fresh mozzarella, piped ricotta, and cup n’ char pepperoni. I never order pepperoni, but with this pizza, I couldn’t get enough! My taste buds were giving it their own award—it’s that good.
4. Flippers Pizza
I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying Flippers Pizzeria pies at events, and every time, they deliver. Their breadsticks are absolutely irresistible—perfectly paired with any of their flavorful pizzas.
I’m all about their crust—it’s fluffy yet crisp, the perfect base for whatever toppings you choose. I can’t get enough of their classic cheese pizza, but I also had the chance to try their Arugula & Prosciutto pizza at an event, and it was gone in seconds. The combination of fresh arugula, savory prosciutto, and perfectly melted cheese made it an instant hit.
And if you happen to be over in St. Pete, don’t forget they have a location there, too!
5. Tampa Bay Brewing Company
If you’re on the hunt for the best pizza in Tampa, Tampa Bay Brewing Company is a place you can’t miss! Not only is it one of the best breweries in Ybor City, but their pizza is also seriously delicious. We’ve had the pleasure of trying it a few times, and it’s a game-changer.
We kept it simple with a cheese and veggie pizza, and we also ventured out to try their Pizza Cubano. If you’re into Cuban sandwiches, this pizza is a creative twist that brings those bold flavors right into a classic pie. Both options showcased the perfect blend of flavors, all with that crispy perfect crust that I’m always craving.
With live music on most Friday and Saturday nights, the outdoor patio becomes an inviting space to enjoy good food, great beer, and some awesome entertainment!
6. Sally O’Neal’s
Sally O’Neals has been serving up some seriously good pizza in South Tampa since 1985, and it’s definitely a local favorite. If you’re craving a variety of specialty pizzas and pastas, including gluten-free options, this spot has you covered.
I can’t resist their breadsticks—they’re an absolute must-try, and if you’re a fan of breadsticks like me, you’ll definitely love them. What really sets Sally O’Neal’s apart is their house-made red sauce, which has this subtle sweetness that adds a delicious dimension to their pizzas.
While deep-dish pizza isn’t usually my go-to, Sally O’Neal’s caters to those who love it. And for a hearty brunch or hangover cure, their breakfast pizzas are an awesome option that will definitely hit the spot.
7. Lee’s Grocery
Lee’s Grocery is one of those hidden gems that you’ll be glad you found. It’s got this super laid-back vibe with counter seating, perfect for grabbing a pizza, some wings, and a cold craft beer. Established in 1884 as a local grocery store, this spot has transformed into a beloved pizza and craft beer destination while keeping its historic charm intact.
Despite being a bit under the radar, Lee’s Grocery has earned a loyal following for its awesome pizza and craft beer selection. Plus, if you want to take the party home, they even offer beer in six-packs or cases to go.
8. Bavaro’s Pizza
Bavaro’s Pizza is an absolute must-visit for anyone craving an authentic Neapolitan pizza experience in Tampa. As Florida’s first traditional Neapolitan pizzeria, it’s got that genuine, classic vibe that you just can’t beat. With multiple locations around the Tampa Bay area, it’s easy to satisfy your pizza cravings no matter where you are.
The tough part about Bavaro’s isn’t just choosing which pizza to get—it’s deciding between their amazing pizzas or their equally delicious pastas! They take authenticity seriously, crafting each Neapolitan pizza with hand-stretched dough and using a 100-year-old yeast culture to bring that perfect, authentic flavor. And if you want to take it up a notch, add some imported bufala mozzarella for an extra layer of deliciousness.
9. Market at EDITION
If you’re looking for not just some of the best pizza in Tampa but also a chic dining experience, then the Market at EDITION should be at the top of your list!
Located inside The Tampa EDITION, known for its luxurious vibe, the Market at EDITION is one of the many food concepts there. The menu features fresh, Neapolitan-style pizzas, along with some seriously tasty charcuterie boards and a variety of negronis and spritzes.
What really sets Market at EDITION apart is the ambiance—it’s the perfect spot for a stylish, relaxed meal with a bit of flair.
10. Forbici Modern Italian
Forbici Modern Italian is more than just a pizza place; it’s a Hyde Park restaurant where every dish is crafted with love and meant to be shared. It’s one of the best Italian restaurants in all of Tampa!
They offer both round and square Roman-style pizzas, each one with a unique crust that gives it a nice twist on the classic. It’s not just about pizza here either—be sure to try their calamari and Erica kale salad—they’re always a hit!
And if you’re in the mood for a good deal, don’t miss their daily happy hour from 3 PM – 6 PM.
Other pizza places in Tampa that I have heard great things, about but have not been to yet:
